O local j\u00e1 foi uma capela dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Pena, depois virou um Mosteiro e em 1755 ficou em ru\u00ednas ap\u00f3s ser atingida por um terremoto, mesmo assim foi reconstru\u00eddo e j\u00e1 foi lar da fam\u00edlia real de Portugal.
