O nome deriva de um antigo forte chamado Mothar, destru\u00eddo durante as guerras para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um farol. As fal\u00e9sias estendem-se 8 km ao longo do Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico com altura m\u00e1xima de 214 metros.
