Conhecida como stavkirke ou igreja de colunas, foi constru\u00edda em 1150 durante a Idade M\u00e9dia e das mais de 1000 igrejas de madeira constru\u00eddas neste per\u00edodo s\u00f3 existem 30. A Noruega se tornou crist\u00e3 durante os s\u00e9culos X e XI e como o pa\u00eds tinha uma longa tradi\u00e7\u00e3o de constru\u00e7\u00f5es de madeira, isso passou dos barcos e das casas, para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de igrejas.
